Our Story
A 250-year-old heritage homestay

Before
Nestled in the heart of Chitrapu village, Tara by the Water is more than just a home—it is a living testament to history, heritage, and restoration.
Once the dwelling of Brahmins who served the local temple, this 250-year-old house has witnessed generations pass through its doors. Over time, as modern life pulled people away, the house stood in quiet neglect, its stories fading into the whispers of the wind. But we saw its soul, waiting to be revived.
What you see today is the result of a thoughtful and heartfelt restoration. Every original element—weathered pillars, intricate wooden detailing and so on, has been preserved to honour its past. Extensions have been added with care, ensuring they blend seamlessly with the house’s heritage and charm.

Surrounded by endless paddy fields on one side and mango trees swaying in the breeze, Tara by the Water is a place where history meets tranquility. Whether you're here for a peaceful retreat or a glimpse into a bygone era, we welcome you to experience the warmth of this lovingly restored home.
